The Habachklause Restaurant

Pleasure in all its facets

Pink saddle of Malitz ox with summer vegetables, potato cake and pimento jus or would you prefer the grilled fillet of sea bass with parsnip cream, zoodles, fregola sarda and yellow pepper sauce? And then the strawberry cheesecake with caramelised white chocolate sorbet? Your mouth is already watering? That's a good thing, because that's a small excerpt from the evening menu. Of course, we can't promise you exactly what you'll get. Because the kitchen changes the menu every day. But what we can promise you is that you can expect a culinary journey of pleasure throughout the day.

Country life on the gourmet plate

A day at the Habachklause starts with our delicious, very rich breakfast buffet. At lunchtime, you can enjoy the buffet lunch menu with two different soups and a sophisticated main course. In the evening, a delicious 5-course menu awaits you. Fresh salads are served as a starter. Afterwards, various soups await you at the buffet. You have a choice of two starter options. For the main course, you can choose between a delicious fish dish, a flavoursome meat dish and a meat-free alternative. The crowning glory is an exquisite dessert. Of course there are aperitif and wine recommendations. Thomas is not only our head chef. He is also a sommelier and knows many winegrowers personally. His cellar contains over 100 award-winning wines from top national and international winegrowers as well as exquisite Austrian wine rarities.

Alpine cuisine from sustainable agriculture

He was probably one of the youngest chefs ever, our Thomas. He took over the management of our kitchen when he was just 18. At just 23, he became Austria's youngest chef. The best ingredients are important, that's what he values. And in this area, too, he follows the credo of permaculture. Thomas is a fan of Alpine cuisine, as he sees it as the guardian of the countryside, its people, animals and plants. He is very much in favour of product diversity. There is also a little international flair in his creations. Sometimes octopus, sometimes scallops - but always with moderation and purpose.

We do a lot of the cooking ourselves at the Habachklause. The associated farm and the Malitzgut provide a variety of products with countless specialities from our own production. There are various jams, naturally cloudy juices, syrup, vinegar, spices, schnapps, liqueurs, pasta, delicatessen and much more. In addition to beef and pork, we also produce lamb and goat kid meat. We get chicken, eggs, fresh cheese and natural yoghurt from Egarteck Hof in Mittersill.

Our guests and Gault Millau

We attach great importance to the quality and origin of our products as well as to variety and sophistication on the menu. We are rewarded by you, because 8 out of 10 guests emphasise that they have never eaten as well as here. Of course, this makes us very happy and a little proud, especially our Thomas. The regional culinary experience at the Habachklause has not gone unnoticed by Gault Millau. In 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, we were voted one of the 25 best establishments in the "Family Hotels in Austria" category. "The regional and often home-made products, combined with a pinch of cosmopolitan charm, guarantee culinary delights at the highest level," says Gault Millau in its assessment!
